A note about 100 days and Valentine’s Day

Dear families,

Two very important and exciting days pf first grade are coming up. I wanted to offer a little more explanation of both.

The 100th Day of School falls on this Thursday, February 9th. We will be celebrating with a day full of centers that focus on the number 100 and all that we’ve accomplished over the past 100 days. Some of our activities will examine collections of 100 items. We will look at these collections as a group, and your child will examine his or her own collection. As mentioned in the homework and newsletter, please help your child count 100 items. These items can be any size, and will be returned if  you’d like. In the past children have brought in 100 cheerios, 100 paperclips, 100 small legos, 100 crayons, etc. If you need help collecting or thinking of items, please let me know.

As part of February, Friendship month, we will celebrate Valentine’s Day next Tuesday February 14th. WE will be sharing kind words about each other during this day. One Valentine’s Day tradition is to share Valentines, or small cards with kind messages. Bringing Valentines to share with the class is in no way mandatory. However, I ask that if your child plans to write any, they do so for the whole class. I have included a list of everyone in the class to ensure that no one is left out. Please bring you Valentines to share on Tuesday. We will deliver them to our decorated envelopes and children will be able to bring them home to read and enjoy!

Thank you for all of your support
