IMPORTANT DATES

·       Friday April 12^th: April Vacations begins, School resumes on Monday April 22^nd.

SPRING CONFERENCES:

Please sign up for a spring conference. If you cannot make any of the allotted times, please see

me to arrange an alternative. At this conference, I will share your child’s spring report.

HOMEWORK

This week our homework asks students to practice counting the value of a group

of coins and to make amounts of money using Pennies, Nickels, Dimes, and

Quarters.

Students will also chose one activity or event from Vacation to write about in

Vacation News.

TOOLS

Children have found it helpful to use the Number Line Hotel to add groups of

coins, especially with the addition of quarters. Please let us know if you need

another copy of this tool to use at home.

Next week we will work more with Bossy R. When a vowel is followed by an r, the

sound of the vowel is affected. For example, the a makes a different sound in

cat than in car. We will practice the different sounds of er, ir, and ur next week.

MATH

We reviewed the values of pennies, nickels, and dimes and we learned about the

quarter. Students practiced adding groups of coins, and choosing coins to make

a given amount. We will practice this more in the coming weeks.  

LIBRARY

We began having the privilege of taking our library books home. Students may

keep books at home for 1 week (Friday- Friday). Please help your child remember to

bring his or her book back on or before Friday mornings. If your child forgets

their book, they may still check out a book to stay in the classroom. But they

may not check out a new book to take home until the old book is returned.

APRIL VACATION

If your child will miss any school before or after vacation, please let us know so

that we can plan ahead.
